With ten scintillating celebrities, ten of SA’s top Latin & Samba dancers, two hot new presenters, a refurbished set and a live studio audience, season 7 of Strictly Come Dancing on SABC3, the dance competition show continued to break viewership records around the world!

The sizzling line-up of celebrities, included pop star LeAnne Dlamini; Top Billing presenter Jonathan Boynton-Lee; actresses Boity Thulo, Khanyi Mbau and Leandi du Randt; professional motorbike racer Janine Davies, comedians Siv Ngesi and Donovan Goliath; Isidingo actor Ashish Gangapersad and rugby player John Mametsa.

The show’s brand new lineup was revealed at a dazzling event held at VSP Lounge in Sandton, Johannesburg and according to SABC Head of Publicity Zandile Nkonyeni; this season’s participants will brought fire to the dance floor when the show started broadcasting on Friday, 18 July 2014 at 20h00 on SABC3.

Quick Facts about Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing had its debut season in South Africa in 2007, drawing in viewers from all around South Africa. It aired on SABC2 for five years before moving to SABC3 in 2013 for its 6th season.
The UK version of the show has won a highly prestigious Rose D’Or award for ‘Best Variety Show’, beating off competition from reality shows from twelve other different countries. It has also won two awards for ‘Best Reality Show’ at the TRIC Awards and two at the TV Quick Awards for ‘Best Talent Show’.
It has also received three BAFTA Award nominations and won the award of ‘Most Popular Talent Show’ at the UK National Television Awards in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
In the Guinness Book of World Records 2010 edition, the format of Strictly Come Dancing was named the most successful television show with the format being sold to more than 38 countries worldwide.
