English Football giants Manchester United descend on South Africa for their 2012/13 pre-season tour.

Johannesburg, South Africa – The 19-time English Premier League Champions will square off against two top South African sides in The MTN Football Invitational that will take place in the coastal cities of Durban and Cape Town in July.

On the 18th of July, the English glamour club will play a match against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Preceding the match will be a soccer clinic, giving Durban’s township youth a chance to rub shoulders with some of the legends of the game and part some of their experience to the youngsters of KZN.

“We are thrilled to have the heroes of the English Premier League return to our shores for what will be an exhilarating challenge between ManUTD and our local teams. This is going to be a real treat for the local Manchester United fans as well as the South African Footballing community,” says Lyndon Barends, CEO, Primedia Sport.

“This match falls on the 94th birthday celebrations of Nelson Mandela. We urge everyone to set aside 90+4 minutes to do some community service as well as joining us in singing Happy Birthday to Madiba just before kick off at Moses Mabhida Stadium and Cape Town Stadium,” said Barends.

In collaboration with LeadSA & Shout initiative a special Happy Birthday Song will be sung for Madiba at the stadium, and fans are urged join in and set new standards for the amount of people singing Happy Birthday to an individual.

The City of Cape Town then gets its turn to host the Red Devils.

United will face Ajax Cape Town on July the 21st at the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point.

A treat for the thousands of Man United and all soccer fans in the Mother City will be another coaching clinic preceding the match.

The clinic will be conducted by some of Manchester United’s star players and coaching staff.

Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill said: “The training camp and matches in South Africa will be an important part of our preparations for the 2012/13 season and an excellent chance to renew our acquaintance with our loyal and enthusiastic fans in South Africa. Everyone has fond memories of the visits there in 2006 and 2008 and, of course, of the exceptional organisation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.”
